There are four teams that advanced to last years’ boys state high school basketball tournament and three that became state champions.

That’s what the inaugural Basketball Shootout will offer among the 10 teams competing on Friday and Saturday at Westminster Academy.

The final two games on Friday and Saturday will showcase defending state champions in University School, Westminster Academy and Stranahan.

U-School and Westminster Academy will meet for the second time this season on Saturday. University was a 53-51 winner on a game winning buzzer beating dunk at the Kreul Showcase in early December.

Stranahan, who won the school’s first state title last season, will face University School on Saturday.

University School and Westminster Academy also play top teams in Surge Christian and Schoolhouse Prep respectively on Friday.

Pine Crest has two of the top guards in the state in 6-5 sophomore twins Ausar and Amen Thompson.
